This past weekend I attended my very first podcamp, Podcamp Pittsburgh 3.  All I can say is this - if a Podcamp has even half the energy of PCPGH3, it’s definitely worth going to. ... Continue reading »

  • Shawn: Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed your first PodCamp! The energy is due entirely to passion + caffeine, so if you guys move ahead with your idea for a PodCamp Harrisburg, keep me posted (and be sure to bring lots of coffee).

Your criticisms are very accurate, although Delicious, StumbleUpon and a few other tools were sprinkled into the sidebar conversations here and there. The truth of all PodCamps is that the presenters tend to deliver sessions based upon A) what they know, and B) what they think other people want to know about. Since PodCamp Pittsburgh tends to attract a lot of entry-level attendees, some of the tools you mentioned didn't come up in the planning process as often as others may have.

By all means, if you'd like to do a session next year on anything you mentioned above, be our guest! I love expanding the focus to include as many tools as possible, but that means we need to keep expanding our pool of local experts, too. Welcome to the fray. :)
  • I'm glad you had a positive experience. The conversation never stops... keep up the momentum!
  • I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your experience at PCPGH3! And I agree with what Justin said in a previous comment regarding subjects and tools covered. I can only speak for myself in terms of session planning and running, and I generally overprepare with info and let the discussion organically develop to whatever the audiences are most interested in or concerned about. I would have loved to have been able to cover everything!

Please do join us and present next time! I'd love to hear your assessment of aggregating tools and other useful social media! It was wonderful meeting you, and thanks to you and Kathleen for introducing me to Strands, too! I think I'm going to go get myself an account based on your reccomendations.

It was a pleasure meeting you, and if you guys pull together PCHBG, I'll be there with bells on!
  • Thanks Shawn! The taping was a blast :) I appreciate your support. This Podcamp - like all of them - was a ton of fun. I agree.. there were times when I felt like it was more like 'TwitterCamp' than 'Podcamp'. But all in all it was cool, and hope to do it again sometime ^_^ Stay well.
